What is Forest School

Originating from Denmark in the 1980s and based on Outdoor learning for children.

Forest School is an approach to learning that takes children into the great outdoors, whatever the weather to explore the natural environment. It is child-led supported by trained practitioners to monitor the children encouraging exploration and discovery, and support them to take risks.

Forest School activities develop confidence, self-esteem, imagination and physical ability, communication with peers, be inspired by the world around them and the importance of taking care of the environment.

Being out in the great outdoors is of great benefit to mental and physical well-being.
